To celebrate Emerson’s 2021 Graduation Class, we would create a video projection program comprised of ~100 7-second video portraits of graduating students, morphing one into the next, and appearing next to their drawn-on signature and major.

Each portrait will also be produced as a GIF and could be used to generate excitement for commencement and the surrounding ceremony.

Source video will be 6K and high-resolution stills can be extracted from each portrait.

Concept treatment would nod to the “One Emerson” campaign and give the impression of the cohesive whole that is Emerson comprised of many individuals. The speed of these motion elements can be changed to suit the project needs.

Toward the end of the program, the image will slowly zoom out revealing countless other students and coalescing into a video portrait of outgoing Emerson President Lee Pelton with a short handwritten message animating on in the same style as the student names.

Filming to take place at Emerson over 3 days in late March. Each student signs up for a 10-minute timeslot via online form. Filming is socially distanced and crew remains masked and at a remove. Main camera utilizes Eyedirect rig such that subject can look directly at lens.

Option to create a storytelling video highlighting the Emerson 2021 Commencement Projection production, behind the scenes footage, community response, and student and faculty reactions and reflections.
